Taking for Ride....

Chennai and Auto rides never go well together. The sight of Auto in the city has become a nightmare for many of us. Everyone in the city would definitely have had an argument with auto drivers in the city towards the fare that needs to be agreed for the destination. The fares are always not in relation to the distance, but based on the person. If you are an office goer or old the fare is always higher. No consistency exist in the fares demanded by the Auto drivers and auto meters are a big taboo to the drivers

It has been more than a decade since the meters functioned in the city autos and it is always going by the best judgement which the driver makes about the fare. The scene before this scenario was slightly better where the meters were functioning , but were rigged in most of the autos. The heart beat of the passenger would increase every time he boards the auto with a rigged meter which had been clearly manipulated to show exorbitant fare. This "Soodu" meter as it is called, was often the cause of arguments between the drivers and passengers and in some cases ending in physical assault as well.  Thank god the Soodu meters are not there now.

Today, the government has revisited the auto fares and they have come up with a fare structure which have been mutually agreed between the government and auto unions. Moving with the technology and based on pilot done by few private auto agency, a new GPS enabled meter will be issued by the government, free of cost, costing the goverment exchequer a whopping 80 crores.

All said and done will this open up a new era in auto transportation in the city.Only time can answer it....

SAY NO TO FIXED FARES.......LETS UNITE TO IMPLEMENT AND NOT SUCCUMB TO FLEECING.

Winning your boss

As I was observing on the Process of Appraisals that were going on in my new Organisation, it brought about the subjectivity that is present in the system. The only way to come out in flying colors is, be a pet to your Boss and reap rich dividends. Though the companies claim about the various thought process that has been put forward in designing the appraisal system, it all boils down to the previous line you just read. I know a guy who always came out with the best score possible during the appraisal not because he did a great job but for his attitude to tasks given by his Boss. I do not claim that he is a person who just thrives because of the "pet" tag , though he does pretty decent job. But if you consider his peers who do the same "decent" job, they somehow end up lower than him. WHY ? Again it is how he presents himself to the boss...Watch below some of his action. Never disputes the idea told by the Boss. Can always spot some think good in the Worst of ...

Ghasi - Hollywood Class

Film Ghassi was another film which really is a class apart from the run-of-a-mill movies. The entire film is shot within a Submarine and the plot is the Indo-Pak war under water in 1971. Viewer watch with bated breath as the story takes you through one sequence of attack after another. Its based on real incidents with how the Indian submarine inspite of losing its captain ,still fought valiantly. This is once in a blue moon kind of movie and matches the class of Hollywood mo vies frame by frame. Score: 4.25/5...extra credit for just the plot and the storyline.
